Re: Mandate Strategy and Deed of Mandate

Tena koutou katoa, Iwi whanau o Ngati Maru Taranaki, ka nui te mihi ana kia koutou katoa, tena koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou

The Interim Group comprises of Tamzyn Pue, Gary Sue, Holden Hohaia and myself, who have been given the task of preparing a Draft – Mandate Strategy and Draft – Deed of Mandate, as well as the Claimant Definition for the treaty settlement process of Ngati Maru Taranaki Iwi.

Your opportunity to discuss the contents and make verbal submissions to the document will be welcome at the forthcoming Hui a Iwi, planned for Saturday 13 April 2013, which will be advertised in advance.

It is important that with such a short time frame to get this information to you, we are supportive that this document goes up on the websites of: Te Runanga o Ngati Maru (Taranaki) Trust, Ngati Maru (Taranaki) Working Party, Office of Treaty Settlements, Te Puni Kokiri

We are also supportive of individuals circulating the document, e.g. email or face book, for exposure to as many Iwi whanau, as possible.

I will be happy to take the names and addresses of whanau who do not have a computer and hard copies of the documents will be sent out to them, promptly

Please take the time to read the documents carefully so that you get a good understanding and awareness of the contents, then you will be asked to vote, whether to adopt it as your guiding document towards electing and mandating your treaty settlement team.

I have made it known on many occasions that we have to drop the “factions” and “titles” in order to go forward together, as an Iwi that is united, and my role on this Interim Group is to represent you all, which you can expect from the other group members, as well.

Ultimately it will be you who will decide who, what, where and when the settlement process will be achieved, and a lot of work needs to be done, but not without your knowledge.

Noreira nga Kuia ma, nga Koro ma, whanau, whanaunga ma, kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui.

Nga mihi Chris (Interim Chair)
